Each student works as an intern in a law firm, nonprofit, or other law-related organization, or a government office, four days per week for approximately seven weeks during the summer. The offices are located in the East Bay and San Francisco.
These internships provide the students with valuable opportunities to develop practical office skills and the ability to function in a professional environment. Through this experience, students achieve a sense of accomplishment that will encourage them to pursue goals that otherwise may seem inaccessible.
The internships also provide a positive and rewarding experience for the participating firms and agencies. The following are examples of their past responses:
"We really enjoyed having H.H. this summer and I would hire her in a second if I had an opening!" [She was subsequently hired by the firm.] — Goldfarb & Lipman
“J.A was the best! We were so impressed with her that we ended up paying her to work at our office for several weeks after the internship had ended.” — SF Neighborhood Legal Assistance Foundation
"C.K. made a real effort to find ways to be helpful. He was great!" — Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights
"C.W. volunteered for projects, assisted with the day to day operation of the library, and helped me become more familiar with the Internet. It was a pleasure working with her." — Lillick & Charles, LLP |
